Some paintings carry a feeling before they carry a story. Happy was created for a deeply positive and warm-hearted person — someone whose energy feels light, genuine and full of life. The colours, movement and layers came together almost instinctively, capturing that quiet kind of happiness that needs no explanation. I hope that, wherever this painting finds its place, it will carry a little of that energy with it — bringing a positive vibe even through the less positive moments. And perhaps that is why there was never really another name for this painting. It could only be Happy.
